After a few months of preparation the 19th October 2023 marked the beginning of the 3rd Balkan Speleological Conference. The conference was open for the public so some of the sessions have also been visited by interested Bulgarian cavers and scientists. The total number of participants was about 45 from 7 countries.

The official opening took place on 19th October with very short speeches by Mrs. Svetla Encheva director of the National Museum „ Earth and Man“, Mrs. Ema Marku – President of the Balkan Speleological Union and Mr. Prof. Alexey Stoev – chairman of the Bulgarian Caving Society. After the first afternoon session there was, as atradition, a welcome party.

26 articles and 2 posters from 57 authors were presented. All works are published in the proceedings of the conference. On the third day of the event there was an excursion along the Iskar River Gorge, with caves and karst springs.
