The expedition targeted the Mae Hong son province and particularly the Pang Mapha district. The major objective was the continuation of the exploration of the Long Snake System located to the north-west of the Soppong village. This system was initially explored by Australian expeditions in the eighties and this exploration was resumed successfully last year by the NEUA2023 expedition that managed to connect Tham Huai Kun, Tham Pung Hung and Tham Pha Daeng Yai creating a system of 8,6km long and 161m deep which made it the 7th longestcave of Thailand. There is still a great potential to extend this system. Especially in the south-east branch of the system where Tham Huai Kun may be linked to Tham Pha Phuek. This could create a system that is 350m deep and over 12km long.
Beside this main objective, an effort was made on the Nam Lang plateau to explore some more deep dolines. During the NEUA2023 expedition, a couple of them were explored and surveyed without leading to the discovery of a major cave system. However, there is here a 600m potential vertical range considering the altitude of the resurgences located a couple of km away.
